30 Day Baseball Card Challenge

Very Exclusive and Limited

Spring signals the arrival of a new baseball season, which also means new baseball card products for us to collect.  Some people can't wait to get their hands on Series One Topps, while others are jazzed about Heritage.

Archives and Stadium Club are the two products I look forward to the most year in and year out.

Obviously... I look forward to checking out the stellar photography in Stadium Club.  As for Archives, I normally focus most of my attention on their Fan Favorites Autographs.

However this year, I'll also be chasing down any of The Sandlot inserts I can get my hands on.  Archives is set to be released sometime in August, so in the meantime I figured I'd show off the special 10 card set I received with my 25th Anniversary Blu-ray.

Inside each specially marked Blu-ray package is this cello pack of cards:

The set uses the 1962 Topps All-Stars subset design, which is pretty cool because the movie took place back in the summer of 1962.

Here's a closer look at the Timmy Timmons card:

On the back of each card, there's a brief writeup on each of the movie characters along with a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS for receiving a limited edition Topps card that probably isn't that limited.

Here's a look at the other nine cards in the set:

And their backs:

The specially marked Blu-ray also came with a few other bonuses:

25th Anniversary Collector's Edition Booklet

15% Coupon

And this pretty cool poster:

There's also a code for a digital copy of the movie.

If you're interested in picking up a copy, I'd say be patient.  They're currently selling for $20 to $30 shipped on eBay.  People have even sold their sealed packs for over $20.  I'd recommend holding off and waiting for Amazon to restock their inventory.  I picked up my Blu-ray for $12.99 (+ $1.20 tax) a few weeks ago.

Plus I'm sure prices will drop as soon as 2018 Archives is released and The Sandlot cards begin flooding our hobby.

Worst case scenario is they continue to sell in the $20 to $30 range.  If that happens, it's still not the end of the world, because Fox seems to release a special anniversary edition of the movie every five years.  And they always seem to come with a special set of cards:

2013 20th Anniversary The Sandlot Set

Well that's it for today.  Until my next post...

Which baseball card product do you look forward to the most each year?

Happy Thursday and sayonara!

I think just Topps flagship; but the Stadium Club photography is brilliant and I generally have liked the paper stock Archives is printed on. I've never seen The Sandlot, is it good?

I look forward to Flagship simply because it signals the start of baseball season. As much as I enjoy Archives when I get them in trade packages, I can never seem to find them around me, so Heritage is what gets me geeked up.

Flagship, for the reason just mentioned. After that, A&G and Heritage in a tie, and then Stadium Club.

Such a good movie....didn't know they made cards included with the movie.

It used to be update, but not any longer due to the way topps fills out the checklist these days.

I'm kinda glad Benny is not shown with his dodger hat on any of those cards. Makes it so I don't even have to think about whether or not it's a dodger card

I usually look forward to Bowman. The base design typically appeals to me and it's fun chasing color in retail packs

Archives is by far my favorite product of the year and probably the one I look forward to the most. Too bad Topps is holding it off until I August this year.

absolutely love the Hercules cards... but then again I'm partial to pups!! The set that I looked forward mostly was Opening Day... until they put too many damned insert sets in it. used to be able to complete a base set with about half the inserts in a single box but now it's difficult to even complete a base set from a box!!

I don't think it's coming out this year, but would have been Bunt. Always bought a box!

I most look forward to Archives. Pre-ordered my annual couple boxes already. I hope Wendy gets a card this year.

Archives and Stadium Club are usually my two favorite releases of the year -- but I'm a bit more excited for Archives in 2018 because of these Sandlot inserts. (I love that they gave Hercules a card, too.)

Up until 2017 it was always Gypsy Queen. When they did away with the minis I lost a lot of interest in the set. Archives would be my favorite base set, but National Treasures (even without logos) is my favorite to by singles of on the secondary market.

Lately nothing baseball has been exciting me. Sacrilege, I know.

I think I am the only card blogger to have never watched Sandlot-perhaps I am not of the Sandlot generation. Actually, I haven't been buying packs or boxes-but I do look forward to A&G which is always interesting. Donruss too but the no logo thing i hard.

Flagship for me. Its the "official" set of the year. Stadium Club next for the photos. I've yet to see Sandlot all the way through...

Survey says...

Topps Flagship 5
Stadium Club 4
Archives 5
Heritage 3
A&G 5
Chrome 1
Bowman 1
Opening Day 1
Bunt 1
Gypsy Queen 1
National Treasures 1

Lots of parity... which I think is awesome. Flagship, Archives, Stadium Club, and Ginter rose to the top... but I love the wide range of brands mentioned in the comments.

Peter and Brady - It's a good movie... especially if you have kids. Brady... let me know if you want to borrow it. I have the DVD and now the Bluray
