COMC Catastrophe Averted

Last week, I received my Check Out My Cards (Collectibles) package in the mail and I was a little surprised at what I found.  See if you can spot the problem...

No, it's not the blurred out address.  It's the lack of any packaging tape on the box, which means that anyone from the post office could have opened my package, removed the cards, and added some new collectibles to their collection.

Thankfully nothing was taken or damaged.  I guess the Cardboard Gods were looking down on us.

On a positive note, this is the first time I've encountered this problem.  In fact, their customer service is pretty top notch.  I've only had one shipping issue since I joined two years ago and they fixed it immediately.

Do you buy cards from COMC?  Have you ever run into this issue?

Happy Sunday and sayonara!

In case you missed it, here's a link to my March Contest.

I have made a few orders and never had this happen. Very lucky!!! Can't wait to see what was in that package.

Never had that problem. Hopefully a one time oversight!

I've also had a couple of shipments, and mine were all packaged well. I guess someone just forgot that last step...

Never from COMC about packaging, but it's the human element, they are not emotionally connected to your card lusts.

Never placed an order from COMC, but have been tempted to. maybe sometime this year

As a collector who likes variety I've been a big fan of COMC. Never a problem.

Scared me a bit. Astonished no one ripped into it or dropped all of the contents out. Yikes.

I've made several purchases but have never ordered so many cards at one time that they shipped in a box like that. Crazy that they sent it without taping it! Glad everything worked out!

I'm more of a SportsLot guy since I buy a lot if commons.

I've ordered from COMC several times. Their packaging is usually phenomenal.

I bought a bunch of cards on COMC but after finding out I was getting raped on shipping I left them in my portfolio. It has been about two years and they are still sitting on my account.

I buy cards from them, but never enough at one time that they shipped them in a box.

i've almost gone solely COMC for my PC singles, they are great guys and i believe very trustworthy. they typically have a guy or two at the portland shows and are always a great conversation.

never had any issues with my shipping, but i've only had bubble mailers in the past. looks like you dodged a mini card disaster!

Does make it easier to open your mail though, doesn't it...

I've ordered a bunch of cards but only end up with empty boxes...weird. I should check on that at the PO.

The only times I've ordered, like many above me, I haven't gotten enough cards to warrant a box.

Never happened to me, I order at least once a week. I would let them know so they could notify shipping of the issue so it doesn't happen again to you or another collector.

I've never bought anything from COMC, mostly because I'm too lazy to bother signing up but also because I've got this rule where I don't buy or sell cards on the internet. I guess I just prefer to buy singles from people in person so while that limits my purchases to LCS pick-ups and card show pick-ups I don't have to lose sleep over what UPS might be doing to my card (although I end up doing so whenever I trade lol).

I'm currently working on my first COMC order. There was a Paypal issue, so I called their customer support; and you are right, they are very helpful.
Also, "Center Field" by Fogerty was the hold music. It made me laugh.

That's my second favorite site ;-)

Lol... yeah. it was nice that I didn't have to destroy the box to get into it.

Yeah, I sent a courtesy email and they replied back to say thanks. I've always felt that their customer service department was top notch.

I sent their customer service department an email to inform them of the situation and they quickly responded. Sounds like it was an isolated event.

If my LCS had reasonable prices, I'd love to buy singles from them ;-)

i've made just three or four purchases from comc and haven't had a problem. except when their shipping prices were so high. i'm glad they have gone to a flat rate shipping format.

I love that song!

I'm still adjusting to their new site... but one things for sure... I love their flat rate shipping format.
