Impossible to Pick

When it comes to baseball... it's been twenty-five years since one of my teams won the World Series.  Hockey?  The San Jose Sharks have never been to the Stanley Cup Finals... let alone win it.

But football is a different story.  The Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV four years ago and the Seattle Seahawks are the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Tonight they'll kickoff the 2014 NFL season against each other in what could be a preview of this season's NFC Conference Championship game.

It's always fun to see my two teams face each other... but unfortunately only one team can walk away with the win.

My preference?  A great game without any key injuries.  Did you really expect me to choose one over the other?  It would be like asking a mother to pick their favorite child.

I've been a fan of both teams since the 80's... when Lynn Dickey was tossing the pigskin to James Lofton and Dave Krieg was handing the ball off to Curt Warner.  Back then Seattle was in the AFC West, which made things a little easier for me because I had a team in each conference.

Tonight... I'm just excited to see which one will prevail:  the Packers' offense or Seattle's defense.  This should be one helluva game.

Before I head out to watch the game... I wanted to share with you the latest addition to my Green Bay Packers PC:

I've been looking to add a Bart Starr autographed mini helmet to my collection for years.  It's certified by Mounted Memories and completes my Packers QB Trifecta:

It was my early birthday present to myself.  With that out of the way... I can now start hunting down a Steve Largent autographed mini helmet for my Seattle Seahawks PC.  Can you say early Christmas present?

Happy Thursday and sayonara!

Wow that's awesome Fuji, I'm jealous. And I firmly believe the Seahawks should have two Lombardi Trophies to display they got screwed in 2006.

That 2006 Super Bowl was a joke.

You have to pick one. There is no "riding the fence", Fuji.

Around here, I hear a lot of people saying they are both Cubs and Sox fans. The truth to that statement is you are a Cubs fan. No way, no how I can ever root for the Cubs. I know plenty of people that feel the same way about the Sox. And that's okay that you are wrong, :)

A person can like more than one team, but when those teams play against each other, you prefer one over the other. You are denying your true self, Fuji.

Pick one.

The signed mini helmets are awesome. What a great three piece collection!

But you claim two teams? And you root for them equally ? I call shenanigans

I agree. That one hurt... but it was nice that the officials from that game came out a few years later and admitted they screwed up.

See above comment ;-)

I will never be able to do that. In baseball... if a gun was pointed at my head, I'd choose the A's. But with football... I truly like both teams equally.

LOL... yeah. I hear that a lot (see JediJeff's comment above... along with everyone from friends and family). The thing is... nobody complained when Seattle was in the AFC West... and by the time they moved to the NFC, I had way too many years invested to just drop them.

I know it doesn't look good right now... having two favorite teams that are on top of the NFC. But this is probably the first... maybe second time(at least that I could remember) that both were considered legit Super Bowl contenders over the past thirty-something years.

I'm okay with the "riding the fence" complaints... just don't call me a bandwagoner or fair weather fan. I've been loyal to both teams through thick and thin.
