Turning Lemons Into Lemonade

I typically use this blog to document the development of my collection in addition to sharing my thoughts on collecting cardboard.  But every now and then, I like to write about interesting events in sports history.

Today... I'll do a little of both.

Earlier in the week... on back to back nights... Yoenis Cespedes muffed up a pair of plays in the outfield against the Los Angeles Angels.  In both instances, the runners decided to take advantage of the mistakes.  And in the end... he made both of them pay for it.

Here's a clip of Cespedes' botched fielding play... that ended up turning into one of the sweetest throws I've ever seen...

The next night, he misplayed a ball that bounced off the left field corner wall.  The result?  See for yourself:

What's insane is that on both plays, Cespedes seems to hesitate (or takes a lackadaisical approach) after committing the mistakes.  I was less than amused.  Thankfully he ended up nailing both runners, which helped ease the frustration.

I'll wrap things up by sharing two more videos of Cespedes showing off his throwing skills.  The first video recaps the amazing game he had a week earlier against the Angels in which he nailed two more runners at the plate:

And six days before that...

Did I mention that these five amazing throws took place over the course of twelve days?  Crazy right?    I guess the guy on the radio was right...

Yo Knows Throws!

Thanks again Matt, Brian, and Corky!  You know cards are pretty awesome when you're able to write multiple posts on them.

And thank you Mr. Cespedes for giving me something to write about.

By the way... the regular school year has officially ended.  I'm in the process of putting a bunch of packages together right now... that will either ship out today or on Monday.  I appreciate everyone being patient with me.

And just another reminder that my mailing address has changed.  If anyone is interested in the new address please email me.

Happy Saturday and sayonara!

Awesome cards

While he's made some very good throws, I think it's hard to compare what Yoenis is doing to the cannon that Bo had. Yoenis needs to have more focus in the field so he doesn't have to make plays like that. He's got the talent - keep your head in the game!

You almost worry that he's got such a good arm that he is lackadaisical because he knows he can make up for it with his arm. That won't always work...

You've got a great Cespedes collection!

I love watching great throws from the outfield. Usually whenever a Pirate makes a good throw I get to see a flasback of Dave Parker from the All Star game.

No comparison. Bo's arm is legendary, while Yoenis is still in the early stages of his career.

Exactly. As an A's fan... it's sort of frustrating to see a player take that approach. Hopefully he learns from these highlights.

That is one of my favorite throws of all-time!

That Museum Collection Cespedes is fantastic.

Nice cards and awesome throws! Hopefully he can mature and quit the mental errors.
