If you know me... then you know I have back issues. And while sorting cards last weekend, I tweaked it again. At this point, I've come to accept it. Unfortunately... the timing is really bad. Today is the Serramonte Mall Sports Card, Toys, and Collectibles Show.
I'm still planning on attending, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stand hunched over dime boxes. My goal is to hang out at my friend's table a little, grab lunch, walk the mall once, then head home.
Although I hit up the ATM last weekend, I don't anticipate spending too much money today. However, I am secretly hoping I stumble across some affordable and clean 1970 Kellogg's baseball singles.
I've been in contact with Matt over at Run-Fore!-Kelloggs Baseball Cards and he's willing to sell me a nice starter set for a reasonable price... which has inspired me to build this dream set. I normally don't take on projects like these, but I love that year's card design... and I've accepted that this will be one of those slow builds that might take the rest of my life.
Well that's it for today. Happy Saturday and sayonara!

Maybe your back will feel better after walking around the card show? If not, hopefully they will have some chairs so you can sit while digging through the boxes. I've had similar ailments lately. It sucks getting old. :/
Have you looked into acupuncture? I swear by it. The siatic nerve issues going down my right leg was just treated with narcotics. After about 4 treatments of acupuncture I saw relief that would least almost a week. After a year, the pain was gone. I haven't had a treatment in 9 months and the siatica, as well as some back pain, is totally gone. Hey - I may wake up in some back pain, but within an hour of moving my body has worked it out because it's more sleeping in a weird position than a bigger issue.
Hope you had a good show! I had two rods and bolts put into my back when I was 17. I occasionally still get some bad nerve pains 21 years later, but staying active (running) helps a lot. Hopefully moving around will loosen things up.
Glad the show was decent. Wish I could have joined you. Good luck on the 1970s Kellogg’s set, sounds like a beast!
I fantasize about building all the 70s Kelloggs sets. Hope you can have a good time at the show. I try to find a chair for those dime boxes. Standing/Walking on concrete does not do the back any favors.
Hope you start feeling better! The Kellogs sets are quite nice, good luck if you end up going for the full thing. I'll look forward to following your progress!
If those 4 Kellogg's you posted you already have ,you are off to a great start. Good Luck.
Hope you are feeling better and had a chance to pick up some good stuff at the show. Nice start to your Kellogg's set!
Those cards look amazing! Good luck in your chase!
Hope you found some good stuff, which in turn made your back feel a little better! (And like JediJeff above, I'd also suggest looking into acupuncture if you haven't already.)
Hope you feel better! Getting hurt sorting cards...another reason to hate sorting!
I have put together a few of the 1980s Kelloggs sets, but these are really nice. I think I have picked up a few here and there, they are harder to find in good condition. I hope you found a few!!!
Hope you're feeling better soon. Back pain is awfully debilitating so I hope you find a solution.
I have a handful of Kellogg's '70 baseball but I've picked up 1970 football singles through the years and recently realized I have about 2/3 of the set. I may just have to finish it off this year. It was a good year for Kelloggs.
I hear ya! Fell better soon.
Good luck building the set. Let us know if you ever have a wants list so we can keep an eye out for you! And I hope your back feels better soon.
Sorry to hear about your back, hope it gets better soon.
And that 1970 Kellogs set looks like an awesome project!
chris - walking around might have helped a little, but by the time i got home i was in a lot of pain. i laid down on my floor and listened to the television and eventually fell asleep
jedijeff - i've heard lots of great things about it, but i hate needles. but i remember that my mom swore by it
base card hero - i was a little annoyed by some rude customers and my buddy had some stuff stolen from his booth. but the show was pretty good in regards to cards.
sumomenkoman - yeah... i'm not sure how far i'll get with the 1970 kellogg's. but even if i just add two or three cards a year, it'll be a fun project
acrackedbat - i was able to sit down at the dime boxes, but believe it or not... my back starts hurting if i sit down too long.
nachos grande - hopefully i'll pick up enough to actually post some progress ;)
sg488 - yeah... i think i might have a few more. couldn't find them in my scans though
arpsmith - i did find a few goodies, but no 1970 kellogg's :(
sport card collectors - thanks. i'll need it
gregory - needles and i don't get along... but i may end up trying it eventually since my back doesn't seem to be getting any better with age
the lost collector - no joke. the who sitting on the floor bent over sorting cards is literally the worst thing for my back.
the snorting bull - i found a guy with a bunch of them, but they all had cracks. i'm going to try and build a set with out any of those
commishbob - i like the football set too. maybe i'll tackle that challenge after i complete the baseball set
johnnys trading spot - thanks john. i rested it a few hours today. hopefully i'll be ready in time to meet my 8th graders tomorrow
peter k steinberg - as soon as i officially start this project, i'll definitely write a post
sean - i hope so too. i can't afford to take any time off from work.
