Free Contest: Multiple Winners & Prizes!

I've been a collector of sports cards and other memorabilia for almost 30 years now. During that time, I've quit collecting at least 10 times, but I've always come back to my favorite childhood hobby. Each time I quit, there was one thing that always kept me in touch with the hobby: Beckett magazines.

I know that there are a lot of anti-Beckett people out there and I agree with the fact that their price guide 99% inaccurate. However, I always kept my subscription to keep track of my collection and to read the interesting articles. Then a few years ago I discovered Mario's blog, Wax Heaven and I was fascinated by his posts. In fact, it's still one of my favorite blogs and I check at least a few times a week to see if he's posted something new.

Fast forward a couple of years and the blogworld has blown up. These days, it's impossible for me to read every sports card blog out there. However, I was intrigued by the amount of friendships spawned by all of the blogs. It was cool to see bloggers post about their trades with other bloggers. Sure there is some "negativity" in the blogworld. However, I think the "good" far outweighs the "bad". It truly amazes me how generous and compassionate collectors are for one another, so five months ago I decided to join the club.

In March 2010, The Chronicles of Fuji was born. It's given me a chance to document the growth of my collection and relive some of my favorite memories. I've also gotten the chance to make some new friends who share similar interests. So today, I wanted to take the time to thank all of the people who have taken the time to read, comment, and follow my blog.

It's not much, but I've decided to give away bits and pieces of my collection to people who will appreciate it. So without furter adieu... I give you the breakdown on my contest. In honor of my 1st post, I'll use the who, what, when, where, and how format:

Who: Anyone can participate in my contest. Loyal readers, new subscribers, and even people who don't collect, but may be interested in starting can join.

What: All you need to do is respond to my "Questions of the Day" that are found in my posts (I'll highlight them in yellow so they're easy to see). You are allowed to respond once per post and every time you do, you will earn 1 point. If you respond more than once to the same blog entry, you will only receive one point.

At the end of the contest, I will add up all of your points. The person with the most points gets to pick the prize they want. Everyone else gets entered into a drawing for the remaining prizes. The amount of entries in the drawing is based on how many points you've earned.

For example, if you replied to seven of my "Questions of the Day", then you will receive seven entries into my drawing. I will list everyone's entries into random.org and randomize it 5 times. The top 10 (or possibly more if I add additional prizes) will win the remaining prizes.

When: The contest actually started on Saturday with my "Masterpieces" post, but don't worry. Nobody answered my question, so nobody received any points. Oh, I guess I should mention the deadline for responding to my questions. You have anywhere from between 6 hours and 2 days to respond to my questions. If you see this: Contest entries closed: Feel free to continue commenting, but it won't count for points. Then you're too late to respond for that post.

Where: I'll be listing point updates every week or so on my blog. I'll also post the final point totals, along with the random.org results on my blog at the very end.

How: How can you get some bonus points? I'll start you off with 5 points if you advertise this contest on your blog (offer expires 10pm PST on Friday, August 13th). Just comment with a link and I'll give you your points.

Now here's what I'm giving away:

Prize Package A: TTM Baseball Autographs
(Max Lanier, Gene Tenace, Juan Gonzalez, & Ron Cey)

Prize Package B: Set of 2008 TNA Impact Wrestling Cards
(w/ all 5 insert sets & 1 random TNA certified autograph)

Prize Package C: Set of 1994 Signature Rookies Future Flash Hockey Cards
(10 autographs)

Prize Package D: Sports Card Bust Starter Kit
(3 autographs of sports busts)

Prize Package E: Babe Ruth & Mini Jerseys
(22kt Gold Babe Ruth card & 4 2005 UD Mini Jerseys)

Prize Package F: Topps Signature Package
(1 of 1 rookie printing plate of DeAndre Jordan & autographs of Jianlian & Young)

Prize Package G: The 4400 Wax Pack Lot w/Bonuses
(8 packs of The 4400 & 5 random inserts from the series)

Prize Package H: 90's Basketball Stuff
(3 Kenner SLU posters & 2 Classic Assets $5 phone cards)

Prize Package I: 90's Basketball Stuff #2
(8 packs of 90/91 Fleer basketball & a complete 90/91 Fleer All-Star insert set)

Prize Package J: Garbage Pail Kids 30 Card Lot
(13 vintage GPK from the 80's & 17 newer GPK)

Prize Package K: NFL Package
(Set of 2006 Topps HOF Tribute & ten 2008 Fathead Tradeables)

Remember, the person with the most points will receive the prize package of his/her choice. In the case of a tie, I'll create a post with a tie-breaker.

All other participants will have their names entered into the drawing. The more posts you respond to, the more points you earn. The more points you earn, the more entries into the drawing.

By the way, it's the luck of the draw (random.org)... so some people may win more than one prize package. I'll do my best to add more prizes, but I'm not promising anything.

If you have any questions, post them in the comment section (sorry these don't count towards your points, you have to actually answer my question of the day to earn a point) and I'll respond ASAP.

By the way... three people already have 1 point each. TJ, Charles, & G_Moses all responded to yesterday's question of the day.

So are you ready to start earning some points? Here's today's question of the day. Which prize package would you choose and why?

Thanks again and good luck!

Great contest! I would pick Prize Package G. I loved the 4400 and am still upset that they never ended it, but I didn't even know that they had cards.

I also posted about the contest on my blog, It's like having my own Card Shop. http://betterthanbeckett.blogspot.com/2010/08/contest-chronicles-of-fuji.html

Cool contest. I would pick the TNA cards because I'm a big wrestling fan but I dont have any wrestling cards. So they would be a nice start to a collection.

No brainer. Prize Pack A. Ron Cey is my all-time favorite.

I would love to win most of the prize packs you have up for grabs but I would choose "A" as those are
some grat autos and I do baseball more then any other sport. The "E" , "K", and "B" packages look very cool too.

I posted a contest plug on my blog.

I would pick Prize Package C--the hockey autographs.

Why? It's a whole set of "prospects," but I'm pretty sure none of those guys played in the NHL. Or if they did, it wasn't long.

And yet, the cards are autographed, numbered and shiny. It's like a set of shiny turds!

Also, I like hockey cards.

The Babe Ruth and Mini jerseys, or the ttm autos. One reason is because Clemens is one of the jerseys, so I would get Astros stuff! Or the TTM, because Ron Cey, he's Ron Cey. Why not? :) Thanks for th econteset! A link will be up in a couple minutes under the card blog here- collectablecards.yolasite.com

I like Prize Pack C. It just looks interesting, but I also like the Fleer basketball cards, too. Hmm, tough to decide.

A is my favorite because TTM autos are near and dear to my heart.

By the way, I posted about your contest.

I think I'd go with Package E. The jerseys and the Ruth are both oddballs that I think I'd like.

90's basketball cards, hands down. But still, great idea for a contest. Really cool idea.

Package F for sure, because I love 1 of 1's!

I can't believe I wasn't already following your blog... I swear I had already bookmarked it. Maybe it was another website you had/have???

anyways... I'd be torn between the NFL Package, as I love to collect the NFL and the HOF set would be right down my alley.
But Pachage A with the four baseball autos would be cool to, as I know three other bloggers who collect 3 of those guys, and I could make each of them happy with an unannounced gift.

Ha! The picture is a trophy! I thought it was a lucha libre mask when I saw it earlier.

I'd go with A. I'm not a football or basketball fan, so that eliminates just about the rest for me! haha

No brainer for me...I'd go with A for the Juando auto and the Ron Cey is sweet too. I'll give your contest a mention!

Pretty cool contest Mark!!!! Thanks for the generosity. I would have to go with the 90's basketball cards. It would be fun to open those packs, plus the sticker set is pretty sweet. I do like the Garbage Pale Kids tho.
