Hawks vs. The Pack: My Two Favorite Teams

Tonight my two favorite football teams take the field against each other and I'm faced with a dilemma... Who do I root for? (FYI - this isn't the question of the day)

If they face each other during the regular season, it's simple. Who needs the win more? Who has the best chance to make the playoffs? These are the things I take into consideration when I decide who I'm going to root for.

If it's the playoffs, that's a different story. Who has the best chance to make it into the Super Bowl? That's what it comes down to.

Now, preseason is a whole different story. I typically could care less about the preseason, because it doesn't count towards the regular season. It's a time for a team to determine who's going to start and who's going to be cut. When the Hawks beat the Titans last week, I didn't even blink... because it's meaningless to me. And when the Browns beat the Pack last week, I didn't break anything, nor did I have to attend my anger management class. Why? Because the only thing I cared about was that Aaron Rodgers had a decent game.

Don't get me wrong... I love the preseason. I'll be scouring the internet tonight looking for this game. And when I find it, I'll enjoy every minute of it. It'll be a chance for me to learn some of the 2nd and 3rd stringers names. I'll have an opportunity to watch rookies Bryan Bulaga and Golden Tate take the field.

Most importantly... I'm assuming that this game is a sign of good things to come. The last time these teams face each other in the preseason (2007), they met again 5 months later in the playoffs. I'm hoping that they're establishing a pattern and we'll see them face off against each other in this year's NFC Conference Championship game.

Now before you give me a hard time about having two NFL teams especially two NFC teams), at least go back and see the history of my "tom foolery". If you still think I'm cheating the system, so be it. I accept it. I could obviously drop one of them, but I'm not going to. I've supported both of these teams since Dickey was passing the ball to Lofton and Zorn was handing the ball off to Warner.

So, here's your question of the day... Who do you think will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season?

Below are the updated point totals. It's a pretty tight race between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, so I figured I'd make things a little interesting. You bonus challenge is simple. Pick the winner of tonight's Seahawks/Packers game.

If you choose correctly, you earn 2 extra points. However, if you pick incorrectly... you lose 2 points. So who's going to step up to the challenge?

Spastikmooss - 18 points
Hoopography - 17 points
Tony MC - 17 points
G Moses - 16 points
82Redbirds - 14 points
TJ - 13 points
Sal - 12 points
BA Benny - 12 points
Play at the Plate - 10 points
Cam - 9 points
dkwilson - 9 points
Steve D - 8 points
night owl - 8 points
Martyn - 8 points
John - 5 points
Jeremy - 3 points
Redsox101 - 3 points
(...Joe) - 2 points
Captain Canuck - 2 points
longlivethewho - 1 point
The Ranter - 1 point

Spastikmooss continues to hold onto the lead... we'll see what happens after tonight. Sorry Redsox101 & BA Benny about closing the contest early yesterday. I had to do it early, because I had plans in the afternoon and evening.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Fuji,
Loving the posts.

For the Superbowl, I think the Green Bay Packers will give it a good go.

As for tonight,
Seattle

Cowboys... easily

as far as last nite... I only picked ONE outta five?!?!?!? Ok, I need bonus points.

Seattle at home for the win.

Packers for NFC Champions. Cowboys look good, Saints look good, Vikings look good, but I like the Pack to pull it off.

And as for tonight's game, I guess I don't have to guess if I want to keep my points safe...but I'm a baller lol. So I will say Packers tonight too.

And for the record, I was a huge Seahawks fan for a short time because I loved Warren Moon and Ricky Watters as a kid.

I think the Packers will make it to the Superbowl this year. They're going to lose to the Patriots, but they'll make it.

I can't stand the Seachickens, but they are going to win tonight.

After a brief hiatus while out of town for work, I am back only to find I have lost my hold on first place. I must make up for lost time.

I think the Rams will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Hey! I can dream, can't I?

I'll go with the Packers for the win tonight (seems like most people are going with the Hawks, and I need to make up some ground). Let's hope my strategy pays off.

And by the way...Thanks for this contest, Fuji. It's a blast!

Representing the NFC at the Superbowl will be the Saints.
As for Packers vs the Seahawks, I pick the Packers.

Wow... I'm impressed... everyone is stepping up to the plate and predicting the winner in tonight's game. Should make things interesting.

I'm going to leave it open for another couple of hours... but I'll be back at around 5... 5:30ish to close it down.

Thanks again to everyone who's participating!

I have to root for and pick the Vikings to go to the Super Bowl out of the NFC. I lived there for 3 years and am a huge Antoine Winfield fan. I know, who comes up with Antoine Winfield as one of their fav players in the NFL. Will this Buffalo Bills fan does as Winfield was the man here for the start of his career.

As for tonite, Ive got the Packers.

Charles... glad you were able to join us.

Looks like 5 of you have the Packers... and 3 have the Hawks.

Well, I can't guess on the game, but I still think that the Saints get to the Super Bowl again...

Gmoses - You're absolutely correct. I apologize for the error. Game predictions are closed, however you are still able to answer the question of the day for a point.

Packers 27
Seahawks 24

I picked the right team, but so did everyone else who is ahead of me! I really needed you guys to blow it and take the -2 points so I could move back into 1st place. Darn the bad luck! ;)
