Buried and Forgotten

The scan folder on my desktop is continuously changing.  Every now and then, I'll go through it and clear out images I know I'll never use on my blog.  But for the most part, new images far outweigh discarded ones.  That's why it's easy for certain images to get buried and become forgotten.

Well shoeboxlegends wrote a post on Monday, titled 2019 "Delete Scenes" where he showed off a bunch of scans from his draft folder that "never saw the light of day on the blog over the past year".  Just like the deleted scenes we get when we buy special edition Blu-rays or DVD's.

As a blogger who has never been shy to borrow another blogger's idea... I figured I'd show off some cards I picked up in 2019, but ultimately were never featured in a post.

Today they finally get the exposure they deserve...

2018 Topps Archives Snapshots Autograph #AS-JTO

I'm not a fan of the New York Yankees... but I am a fan of baseballTorre is the only person in MLB history to collect 2,000 hits as a player and 2,000 wins as a manager.

2016 Leaf Originals MMA #FE1
2016 Leaf Originals MMA #A-FE1

Fedor is regarded as one of the greatest pound for pound MMA fighters of all-time.  I actually had the opportunity to meet him and obtain his signature back in 2015, but was excited to add these certified autographs to my collection as well.

1971 Topps Pin-Ups #4

Back in 2018, I picked up a nice starter set of these vintage poster inserts.  This was the final poster I needed to complete the set.

Along the way, I ended up buying a pair of lots on eBay that actually motivated me to build another set.  So Namath is back up on my wantlist again.

2001 Topps Archives Reserves Rookie Reprint Autograph #ARA14

As I get closer and closer to reaching the age of 50, I become more and more impressed with Minnie Minoso's feat of hitting a single off of Sid Monge back on September 12th, 1976.  Yep... you guessed it.  He was 50 years old when he did it.

2018 Fleer Ultra X-Men Deadpool Around the World #DAW7

As a fan of Deadpool and of course Mt. Fuji... I saw this card on someone's blog and knew I had to add it to my collection.

2000 Upper Deck Game Jersey Autograph #H-MR

This was one of my eBay gift card purchases from over the summer.  I realize there are plenty of collectors who avoid PED guys... but I'm not one of them.  I was pretty excited to add this autographed memorabilia card of Manny to my collection.

2010-11 ITG Heroes and Prospects National Pride Jersey Black #NATP-08

This is one of those Vault buyback one of ones.  But the silly little stamp actually allowed me to pick up this swatch of Subban's Belleville Bulls jersey for less than half of what COMC sellers are asking for the non-Vault stamped cards.

1991 Topps Pre-Production Sample #NNO

I'm trying to collect every version of the 1991 Topps Walt Weiss card.  This sample card is actually part of an uncut 9 card sheet that I picked up on eBay back in February for $4.05 (+ $3.95 shipping).  In addition to this sample card, I also own the regular base card, the Operation Desert Shield card, and the Topps Micro version.  That leaves me with just needing the Topps Tiffany and possibly any glow back variations.

2012 Topps Allen and Ginter Colony in a Card #NNO

I've always been a sucker for novelty cards.  At one point, I actually considered doing a blog series documenting the growth of these sea-monkeys.  I ended up keeping the card intact and the experiment was shelved like the scans in this post.

Well that's a nice start to my scan dump.  There's actually a bunch of images that are still sitting in the folder, but there's an outside chance I'll end up writing about some of them individually in the future.

Thank you shoeboxlegends for coming up with the "deleted scenes" idea.  It helped clear out some dormant images and kick off my first post of 2020.

I hope all of you enjoyed a safe New Year's Eve... and I wish you a bright and positive 2020Happy New Year and sayonara!

Those are a bunch of fun cards. Well, except for the Torre.

I think that Walt Weiss card is on the top of many people’s most iconic cars. Love it!

Of course the Weiss is a boss card, but I kinda like the PK card. I'm always biased towards hockey cards. Thanks for sharing your "deleted scenes". I think I need a post like this too!

That Torre is a beaut! Never seen it.

That Ramirez card is fantastic. Love the backdrop of Jacobs Field in the background. A very nice looking card!

Awesome stuff, glad I helped inspire the post Fuji! That Minoso autograph in particular has me drooling. Would love to find a hard-signed auto of his someday, and that one's a beauty!

Didn't even know '91 Topps Pre-Productions existed until this post.

It just dawned on me that there aren't a ton of Manny Ramirez autographs out there.

I think I have a few '92 Topps commons in my scan folder ...

Happy New Year. Love that Deadpool card, but the Minoso auto steals the show.

I love the Walt Weiss card. I am not sure that I have ever seen a 1991 Pre-Production Sample. I need to track one of those down. I also like the Torre autograph. He was the manager of the Cardinals when I was in middle school, I need to track down one of his autographs. Just need to find a Cardinals one.

peter k steinberg - after seeing minoso's 77t record breaker card, i knew i wanted an on-card autograph of his. i was surprised to see how affordable they are

big tone - i come across new cards almost every day just by reading all of the great card blogs out there. a good percentage of my pick ups were inspired by other blog posts. happy new year to you too!

section 36 - lol. no love for torre? what if he was featured as a cardinals or braves manager?

sumomenkoman - it's pretty darn awesome.

bryan - i'm sort of a closet pk fan. i picked up one of his autographed rookie cards last year too

the lost collector - it popped up on my archives autograph search. i like the simple design and on-card signature

commishbob - they're reasonably priced. you can probably find one for around $10

johnnys trading spot - thanks. it's a shame i didn't get a chance to write individual posts for each card

reds card collector - you've got a good eye. i had no clue what stadium was in the background

dub - i think you can find singles on comc. and sheets pop up all the time on ebay. best of luck!

shoeboxlegends - the minoso was much more affordable than i would have thought. you can probably find this one for around $10. looks like a few other bloggers are interested in tracking down his signature too

nick - seriously? thanks for making my day. i've discovered so many card from your blog over the years, it's nice to point a card out to you.

zippy zappy - there really aren't. well... at least not compared to most of those big sluggers from the 90's. sammy sosa is another guy who doesn't have a lot of signatures

night owl - if you write a post, we will come. even if it's a 1992 topps post.

collecting cutch - the minoso card is receiving lots of love. honestly the 2001 archives rookie reprint autographs in general are very, very nice.

the snorting bull - torre has a really cool topps heritage autograph in this year's product and he's featured as a cardinal.

The Torre is sweet! I picked up a Cracker Jack mini relic intended for trading but decided just yesterday to keep it. Selfish of me ;)
