Happy 237th Birthday USA!
To honor this special occasion, I woke up this morning and busted a box of 1992 Starline Americana. "What's Americana?", you ask.
According to Merriam-Webster, Americana are materials concerning or characteristic of America, its civilization, or its culture. And that's exactly what Starline built their checklist around.
This 250 card set contains famous American politicians, heroes, athletes, military leaders, inventors, writers, and other key figures who have left their mark on U.S. history.
The box contained 36 packs and each pack had 12 cards. Each wrapper contained an advertisement for a special edition collector's album with an Americana logo and fifteen 9-pocket pages.
If you're a history buff, you'll enjoy this set. Although the photography isn't the greatest, the information you'll find on the card backs make up for it. Each card contains basic biographical information, historical highlights, and a trivia question.
Unfortunately, the collation was terrible. At 432 cards per box, I should have been able to walk away with a complete set. But, I came up four cards short. Thankfully, these boxes are pretty cheap, so I'm planning to buy another one and cross my fingers.
Happy 4th of July! Enjoy a safe, holiday weekend. Sayonara!
Extra Edition!
Wilson... is this crazy enough for you?

Cool set!
Those look pretty neat! I'd never seen those before, I'll have to keep an eye out.
Fuji, if you got some Presidential dupes, particularly Lincoln, Kennedy or LBJ, I'd be interested in maybe working out a trade.
Great find!
Please tell me the John C. Calhoun has one of his crazy eyes photos
As a History major, I approve of anything that features Jackie, Babe, AND Lincoln.
What a cool set!
I thought US was almost with 300 years old. But they are still a kid ;)
Sounds good. Give me a couple of weeks. I want to bust another box of this stuff to finish my set... and hopefully build an extra set for my friend. After that the extras are yours.
Added his card to the post ;-)
interesting set never saw it before, Would be hard to get them signed tho lol
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure... but I'd say the majority of the people who make up this set aren't going to be signing TTM or IP autos anytime soon.
I'm sure there's some unscrupulous dealer out there who would sign them and try to pass them off as real!
PATP - You're probably right :(
Nice find. I don't recall seeing one of these before. Make sure you post a pack in APTBNL!
I completely forgot about writing a post for APTBNL :( and unfortunately, I busted all of the packs already.
