A Dy-no-mite Steady Eddie Rookie Card!

Remember the $100 I made from my Craigslist sale?  Well... after purchasing the 1978 Topps Burger King Detroit Tigers set, I was left with $68.50.  Now it's time to show off my second purchase and I'm sticking with the vintage, oddball theme.

If you grew up in the 70's or the 80's, then you're probably pretty familiar with the magazine, Dynamite.  I remember ordering them through the monthly Scholastic book orders, because I loved their cartoons, activities, and of course the bonus posters.

Recently, I stumbled across an interesting eBay auction for the April 1978 issue, that celebrated Mad Magazine's 25th birthday.

At first glance, it's just another issue of a defunct magazine.  But when you peek inside, there was something that immediately caught my attention...

See it?  Okay, let's get a closer look...

Yup... it's an uncut sheet of 1978 Topps baseball cards that includes the Eddie Murray rookie card.

Well... you know me and my love for oddballs and vintage cards.  I plugged this auction into my sniper program and wound up winning it for $22.50 (+ $3.95 shipping), which leaves me with $42.05 left to spend.

More importantly, it left me feeling like...

Anyone else read Dynamite?  Watch Good Times?  Collect vintage, oddballs?

Happy Tuesday and sayonara!

Those uncut sheets are cool. I know I have some from 1987 Topps around somewhere...

I remember Dynamite very well. I also remember them having baseball cards in them. I believe I still have a 1976 Topps card that was torn out of a Dynamite issue.

That is an excellent acquisition for $26.45. Ya done good, kid.

Loved Dynamite, watched Good Times regularly, and the oddballier the better.

I've got a 1974 Charlie Spikes that I'm pretty sure came out of Dynamite. I remember thinking that Charlie Spikes was a cool name.

I very recently discovered that I still have Dynamite issue #1... Yes, there will be a post about it, even though it doesn't involve cards.

I have some of my Dynamite's somewhere. I also still have my torn out '78 and '79 Topps cards.

Great, great pick-up!!! That's really sweet. The Eddie rookie is a classic card, one of my all time favorites.

And no, I never read Dynamite or watched Good Times.

Love me some vintage and the occasional oddball. Too young for Good Times and Dynamite.

Awesome pickup. I used to read Dynamite religiously. I wish I still had some of my old issues. I have seen them at toy shows and flea markets. Maybe I will grab an issue or two the next time I see one.
