It finally happened. I sat myself down in front of the computer and started cataloging cards on TCDB. The inspiration was the large donation of Steve Largent cards that Corky (Pack War) generously sent my way recently.
To put things into perspective... before Corky's care package I had around 70 different Largents. Now I'm sitting at:
Obviously... I did.
But for now I'm only going to track my Largent collection. Ultimately there isn't enough time in the day for me to commit to uploading all of my other player collections. Maybe this summer? Probably not though.
Well... this isn't a food issue, but it was sponsored by Coca-Cola.
This card is a blast from the past. I loved pizza rolls back in high school and college. I wonder if these things are still around.
I've written about these McDonald's cards before, since I grew up collecting the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders cards. I picked up the complete Green Tab set back in 2010. Now that I'm clawing at the #1 position on TCDB... maybe I'll look into picking up the other three sets.
Behind only twenty-three cards to the current leader, I was inspired to pick up a twelve card lot on eBay which should get me ten steps closer to #1. I'll show them off as soon as I receive them. In the meantime, I scanned some of my favorites cards from Corky's care package:
This card deserves its own post, because I enjoy it on a few different levels. Maybe one day. Moving along...
During Jackson's seven seasons with the Hawks, he either led or was 2nd on the team in receptions six times. Here's a quick comparison of him and Largent in regards to Seattle's receiving leaders:
1987 Topps American/UK #42
2005 Donruss Elite Back to the Future Green #BF-5
2005 Donruss Elite Back to the Future Blue #BF-5
2005 Donruss Elite Back to the Future Red #BF-5
It's not very often I receive a complete rainbow in a care package. Actually... this might be the first time.
Steve Largent: 819 Receptions (1st), 13,089 Yards (1st), and 100 Touchdowns (1st)
Darrell Jackson: 441 Receptions (6th), 6,445 Yards (4th), and 47 Touchdowns (3rd)
Next up are a pair of low serial numbered cards:
2007 Leaf Limited Bronze Spotlight #191 (#'d 03/32)
2015 Panini Immaculate Gold #99 (#'d 22/25)
There were a bunch of serial numbered cards that Corky sent my way. These two were the rarest.
And you know how much I enjoy food and restaurant issue oddballs, here are three really cool ones:
1979 Seattle Police #NNO
1986 Jeno's Pizza Rolls #56
1986 McDonald's Seattle Seahawks (Tab Removed) #NNO
I'll wrap things up with a relic card:
I'm one of those collectors who still appreciates relic cards. This is the 6th addition to my Steve Largent PC. Considering I don't like to spend more than a few bucks on memorabilia cards, I don't think I'll be adding anymore in the near future.
2010 Absolute Memorabilia Tools of the Trade Materials Red #15
Thanks again Corky for this awesome care package and for inspiring me to track my Largent collection on TCDB. Your generosity single handedly allowed me to jump into the Top 3, but now I'm hungry to get to the top.
Today's question of the day...
Do you track any of your collections on TCDB?
Are you ranked in the Top 10 for any of the players you collect?
Happy Saturday and sayonara!

I try to use TCDB, but I am so very far behind with stacks and stacks of cards I haven't catalogued yet. I had hoped to use TCDB to get a better idea of my whole collection to try to get it insured. Too many cards though, so now my focus is using to track my set builds and player collections instead of "everything".
I am the #1 Kennys Vargas Collector!
What a great bunch of Largents, congrats on the huge collection growth! I'm pretty up-to-date on TCDB at this point and it's been awesome for tracking everything. I'm definitely #1 in collecting Rich Hill and a few others. Hopefully I can help you make more progress with your Largents.
Totally forgot about those Jeno's cards. "We like Jeno's not Totino's" was a saying our opponents use to chant back in high school (since my school was sponsored by a founder of Totino's).
I have no idea of how to check rankings on TCDB.
If you go to the player's section, then Collection Summary. There will be your ranking for that player.
I do most of my collection tracking and trading on TCDB.
I'm Top 10 for Larkin collectors but that probably isn't a surprise to anyone, lol. I hope to get more of the "rest" of my collection uploaded to TCDB this year.
I log all my Tony Gwynn cards on there. If you want to connect my user name on there is Jon394.
I never knew there was a "ranking". Just checked. I'm #11. I'm pretty pleased with that.
I loved watching Largent catch passes from Jim Zorn back in the day, have a few of his cards.
I'm on TCDB, but, honestly, I really don't know what I'm doing. According to Dennis, I'm #1 of all Matthew Boyd collectors, and, that's pretty cool. I'll never cone close to logging in all of my cards that I've collected over the last 55 years.
Fantastic Largent cards! I had a copy of that Immaculate Gold parallel and sold it on COMC for some dumb reason. Not sure if yours is the exact copy.. lemme check.. nope, mine was sn'd 20/25.
I'm #1 on TCDB for Peter Worrell cards, and possibly top-5 in player collections of other obscure players.
I one day hope to get some of my bigger player collections on TCDB, but that day is probably way in the future because I'm so behind in my sorting/organizing as it is. I'm genuinely interested to see how some of my collections rank against others on the site.
Still logging my collection there, been doing it since September.
I'm No. 1 for several Dodgers, including Mondesi, Kenley Jansen and a few others. I'm a card or two away from being No. 1 for Ron Cey. I'm fourth for Kershaw, I'd love the be first there, but don't see myself surpassing the top two anytime soon.
I'm #12 for McGwire, but my McGwire cards are all I have loaded on the site. So much work!
I'm top five in most former BYU players, including #1 in guys like John Beck, Austin Collie, Ziggy Ansah, and Kyle van Noy. My Brad Sorensen collection is #1 by a mile. But not too many other people are collecting those players. Outside of those more obscure players I collect, only with Jordy Nelson and Eddie Lacy am I in the top 10.
brian - congratulations on being the #1 vargas collector. i doubt i'll ever inventory my entire collection on this site, but the goal is to get some of my player collections on there.
dennis - congratulations on being the #1 rich hill collector! i'm jealous that you're up-to-date on tcdb. i hope to get there one day. right now, i'm happy that my largent collection is on there
crocodile - i actually think i used to eat totino's. now i'm not even sure i've had jeno's
johnny's trading spot - i had to play around with it, but i'm glad my email helped
elliptical man - very cool. i hope one day i can have my cards inventoried on the site. it's doubtful, but a guy can hope
nachos grande - to be in the top 10 of a modern day hall of famer is pretty darn impressive. i'm curious to see where i am with my main pc guy (gwynn).
jongudmund - my goal is to one day get my gwynn collection on there. #11 is awesome! i'd be happy if i can crawl into the top 19.
john sharp - i was a zorn guy too, but mostly i remember krieg. congratulations on being the #1 boyd collector. your collection is pretty impressive.
chris - i came across several scans on tcdb that were listed by corky... and were cards he sent my way. congratulations on being the #1 peter worrell collector. gotta admit, i'm not familiar with him. but a quick peek on comc revealed that i probably have one of his 1997-98 bowman chl cards (i opened a few boxes of that stuff).
nick - lol. glad to know i'm not the only one behind in sorting & organizing. gotta say, it was pretty cool to see where i stood among other collectors on the site with largent
night owl - that's awesome that you're #1 on several dodgers. i really hope you get to be #1 for cey soon, since he's your favorite player. being #4 among kershaw collectors is very, very impressive considering he's a current player with tons of new stuff.
the diamond king - gotta imagine there are some diehard mcgwire guys. i know of one youtuber who was really into mcgwire. it is a lot of work, which is why i probably won't get my gwynn collection up there anytime soon.
cardboard jones - i noticed that largent had a few of those *c & *d variations. i had to bust out the magnifying glass, but i found one pair. actually... i'm still missing the third variation (*cd).
trevor p - wow. you're ranked #1 for a lot of guys. very cool. also impressed that you have two packer collections in the top 10. btw... i have a cheap but cool eddie lacy coming up in my monday morning post.
#1 Nate Colbert collector on TCDB here. Fun! Probably some other lesser-known names too.
I have everything logged in to TCDB. I love being able to see everything in one place.
I just looked up my Tier 1 collections of Billy Williams, Dave Dravecky, Luis Aparicio, Mike Hart, Paul Konerko and Tom Seaver and I'm in the top 3 with all of them. I'm sure there are others but I'm not going through all my PC's. It helps I buy lots of cheap cards, makes the number go up quicker without costing me a fortune.
Right now I am trying to input all of my dupes onto a tradelist for TCDB. The process is so slow it might take a year or more. I'm not even going to try to put my actual collection on there.
I’ve logged in my entire collection and am #1 for the Cubs, Billy Williams, Darwin Barney, and a few others. I'm #3 for Ernie Banks.
I have only logged in my Charles Way (number 1) and Allan Houston (9). Tried to do Eli but way too hard and I don't have the patience to do 700 cards.Same with Rodney and same with griffey and kerry collins
I’m caught up on TCDB regarding my trade list, but a lot of work left for player collections. Still, I’m on the board for Magglio Ordonez!
I thought it would be good to use TCDB for sumo cards. Our collecting group uses an Excel spreadsheet, but we need to get more modern. I use TCDB to track a few of my collections: Brandon Laird, Radio Shack ZipZaps and a few others. Cool post. I hope you get to #1!
Number 1 for Tino and Ty Hensley! I don't really log the rest of my cards other than when it does it for me when an incoming trade completes. I'd probably be #1 for Clarke Schmidt if I ever decided to log them. I am currently #2 but thats only from trades.
Largent also has a 110 card set from
1989 pacific cards.
I jumped on TCDB back in 2008 when I was contributing to several similar sites, trying to ensure I had an accurate alternative to Beckett. Sadly several of those alternatives have fallen by the wayside, but TCDB just keeps improving. I started there just to track my player collections, but then it became my go-to site for cataloging all the international sets I was researching. Today TCDB is easily the foremost site for cataloging cards from all over the world from all genres.
I think it will be awhile before anyone approaches my Hensley Meulens collection on there.
defgav - i'm not surprised about you and colbert. very cool. i collected him for a short period myself
jeff laws - i'm super jealous that you've got all of your cards logged into tcdb. i'll be happy to add my gwynn collection at some point. maybe this summer
bo - i'm the opposite. i doubt i'll get around to adding my dupes. i'm gonna start with player collections first
wrigley wax - i'm sure you're #1 for a bunch of cubs. you've got a very impressive collection
matt - gotta imagine you're #1 for rodney hampton. i'll see if i have the patience when i start adding all of my gwynns at some point
pennsylvania tiger - i'm gonna start with my player collections. if and when i get them all up, then i'll consider adding duplicates for trade
sumomenkoman - glad they have sumo cards on tcdb. are you the #1 laird collector?
the lost collector - congratulations on being the #1 tino collector. i'm sure it's not even close.
sg488 - i included that set as part of my collection. it's funny, because not all of the cards feature largent, so not all 110 cards count towards him.
jason presley - tcdb has definitely been soaring in popularity over the past few years among bloggers. although i've had an account for years, i held back on adding cards to the database b/c of lack of time. figured going one player at a time is the best approach for me. i'm glad to hear it's a site that continues to improve. and congratulations on being the #1 meulens collector
I'm #2 on Billy Williams but if I remember correctly, you have a healthy lead.
I would still be plugging away at entering my cards had it not been for the month off when Covid originally hit, I spent 8-10 hours a day adding them during that month.
I really need to get on TCDB, but it seems like I am always short on time these days. One day, I will get there. I am sure I could be ranked on the Ray Lankford and Blake Snell lists.
I logged in my collection years ago when I first got back into collecting. Once you get the collection it's it's rather easy to maintain. I doubt I'm top 50 in any player collection, let alone top 10.
