Blog Trade #6: The Sandlot

There are about 15 blogs that I read on a regular basis. The Sandlot, authored by ...Joe is definitely one of them. If you haven't figured it out by the name... his blog covers baseball... and lots of it.

A couple of Sundays ago, Joe contacted me about a possible trade. It was simple and straight to the point... he made me an offer... one of his cards for one of mine... and I accepted. No haggling... no revisions... no issues... as smooth as it gets.

So let's get down to it...

Joe collects Mike Piazza, so I sent him my 2002 SP Authentic "Game Jersey":

In return... he helped me add another memorabilia card to my Tony Gwynn PC. It's a 2005 UD Classics "Jersey" card of the greatest hitter in Padres' history:

The card features a pretty simple design... with a plain, blue swatch... but I love that it celebrates Gwynn's 3,000th hit... which is exactly what most people remember him for... HITTING.

However... it doesn't stop there... Generous Joe threw in a bonus card. It's a 2009 Topps Unique "Red Parallel" #'d to 1199 of my current favorite player... Kurt Suzuki:

Thanks buddy for the great trade. I really appreciate the bonus Suzuki. I'm glad we were able to help add to each other's PC's. Have a safe and positive 2011!

And if any of my readers out there have any extra Mike Piazzas or David Wrights... head over to THE SANDLOT and contact Joe. He's an awesome trader and easy to deal with.

Tuesday's question of the day is dedicated to Joe and his Piazza PC. Mr. Piazza will be eligible to enter Cooperstown in 2013.

Do you think that Mr. Piazza will be a first ballot HOFer? If not... how many years will it take him to get in?

Have a good evening everyone... Sayonara!

I like the design on that '02 UD Game Used SP. It's a good looking card.

I think Piazza is a first ballot HOFer. His numbers match up for sure and his reputation with the writers was great.

Piazza is a first ballot Hall of Fame guy, but if the writers object to him in any way, he might be inducted on his second year of the ballot at the latest.

First ballot all the way.

Man, I hope so! Although the writers seem to on this first ballot "hazing" kick so who really knows. Thanks again for the trade dude!

If Piazza's not in on the first ballot, there's a serious problem. But of course, HOF voters are generally nonsensical morons.
