Rebel with a Reason

I'm always up for a baseball card challenge and last week Tony over at Off Hiatus Baseball Cards threw down the gauntlet.  He asked fellow bloggers and Twitterers to write 30 posts in 30 days using specific categories within the challenge.

Unfortunately... there's no way I could actually stick to the rules without taking a few days off from work and/or running out and buying some 2017 baseball cards.  That's where I'm going to be a rebel and switch up a few things.

#1:  I'll complete all 30 posts, but it'll take me closer to 30 weeks to complete.  Bottom line... I've got a lot on my plate right now.

#2:  I'll try my best to go in the order Tony created, but there will be at least one modification.  Since I haven't purchased any 2017 trading cards, it's hard for me to write about the first challenge: A card from the current year with a photo you like.  Thanks to a few bloggers, I own a handful of 2017 Topps cards, but none of them have a photo that really stands out.

#3:  Tony asks us to write about one card, but sometimes there are just too many cool cards to choose from.  Today is one of those days.

Challenge #2:  A card with more than one player on it.

This is one of the first baseball cards I ever remember pulling from a pack.  Well... not this exact copy, but one just like it.  The original is long gone... either traded away or sold when I dumped my collection in 2001.  But I'm glad I found another copy, because this card definitely reminds me of my childhood.

I've never been a huge fan of multiple player rookie cards.  However... they've been a part of our hobby for over half a century and that's reason enough to include these two.

Three of biggest names in baseball history on a fifty-one year old piece of cardboard that cost me less than $7.  Now that's what I call a bargain.

1999 Stadium Club Co-Signers #CS4

This was the first card I though of when I saw Day #2's challenge.  It's one of my favorite cards in the collection.  I always wondered... who held and signed this card first?

2002 UD Vintage Timeless Teams Quad Bats #OF2

As many of you know, Henderson and Gwynn are my two favorite baseball players of all-time.  Bonds and Griffey are nice bonuses... which is why I just couldn't leave this card out of the post.

I'm looking forward to writing about all of them on my own terms.  Why?  Because I'm a cardboard rebel!
