If you've ever spent eight hours standing around at a card show digging through boxes of cards... then you might understand how I feel. Unfortunately the two non-collectors I tried to explain myself to had zero sympathy for my lack of energy.
Oh well. Hopefully you guys will be more understanding than them.
Today's post will be short, because I need to get my lesson plans in order and if I have time... continue organizing my card show haul:
Overall, i'd say the show was pretty awesome. I got to hang out with my collector buddies that includes Brady over at St. Louis Cardinals' Cardboard and Mr. Haverkamp who reads and supports many of our card blogs. I also had the opportunity to finally meet a few guys I follow on YouTube which was really cool.
In terms of card purchases, I spent the majority of my money with the COMC guy who had a pretty awesome dime and dollar boxes.
Over the next few days, I'll be sifting through my purchases, organizing them, scanning some singles, and then either sorting them into their proper collections, putting them into my tradebait box, or adding them to care packages.
One of the things I was was excited about was finally finishing off my 1980 Topps 5x7 Superstars set with these two cards:
Unfortunately... both of these were the white back versions, while the rest of my set are brown backs. But at this juncture, I'm just glad to cross this set off of my list.
I'm also one card closer to completing my 1986 Donruss and 2016 Topps Archives sets:
The Canseco set me back 75¢, while the other three were discovered in dime bins.
I also picked up five more Fleer box sets from the 80's and 90's:
For those who may be unfamiliar with these... they were 44 card sets produced by Fleer for different stores like 7-11 and Woolworth. A few months ago, I decided to collect the 34 different sets I was able to find on the internet. So far, I've picked up twelve, so I'm over a third of the way.
Well... that's it for today. I'm still working on the care packages. Now that I've purchased some cards at the show, I'm just waiting on one more eBay purchase to come in and then I'll get them shipped out.
Until then...
Happy Sunday and sayonara!

I'll pull out some Fleer box sets for you from the ole stash-a-roo. That Canseco is the last one I need for my 86 Donruss set. Which one do you need?
Awesome. Looking forward to the rest!
8 hours is crazy. I think I'd finally get sick of cards after 8 hours.
Go 1980 Superstars cards! Love those.
I think my record for longest time at a show is five hours, so you certainly have me beat. Love those Fleer box sets! Always a treat to stumble upon those.
I know I've spent 6-7 hours at a show, not sure if I ever made it to 8... at any rate, I feel your pain. :-)
Congrats on the 1980 5x7 set... I love that set as well, I really need to finish it.
My eye was instantly drawn to the packs that say "Footballer" on the front. I don't know if those are cards or stickers, but I am formally requesting that you share at least one of those.
No matter what shape you are in, being hunched over for 8 hours will catch up with you.
Seeing all those Fleer sets remind me of my childhood.
8 hours!!!!????
8 hours!!!?????????
You are crazy!!!!!!!!
On a positive note, only 75cents for the Canseco? 25 years ago it was $75.
Lemme check for any Fleer box sets I may still have hanging around. I busted up a bunch of them for their component parts a few years ago.
No way would I last 8 hours at a show. I'm too old for that. I did four or five hours at the last TriStar show and just about spent the next day in traction.
YOU are NOT crazy. I've done it too. My back pays for it later. The time flies though, don't even realize it then my Nickel man says they're closing in 15 mins. WHAT??? I just got here!
john - i need a bunch of them. the twelve boxes in my picture are the ones i own... everything else i still need.
sumomenkoman - was planning on posting it today, but then i remembered it was star wars day. i'll have it up next week.
cardboard jones - if i didn't drive in with friends, i would have went home after 4 hours.
night owl - if you're building the set, let me know. i have a bunch of extras
nick - yeah... hard to pass up for that price. i looked on eBay and shipping alone is more than a dollar
kali - are you calling me fat?
shlabotnikreport - let me know which ones you need. i have a bunch of extras. i'm interested in opening those packs too. they look to be 1980 or 1981 topps ireland football cards. their design resembles the one used for the magic/dr. j/bird rookie
matthew - dealt with it all week ;)
collecting cutch - found a beckett with the canseco listed at $100. plus i remember selling them at our card shop for that price too.
commishbob - sorry to hear about that bob. i wasn't in traction, but i was laid out most of the week doing stretches.
julie - i would have cried if that had happened to me this time around. i didn't see any nickel boxes... but i found some really cool stuff in the dime boxes.
