Flea Market Finds #62: Tequila Flavored Pistachios

Spring Break is over.  Tomorrow I'm back in the classroom.  That means going to bed early tonight and allowing my body to adjust to my work schedule.  So I apologize in advance for this short post, but I'm hoping to be in bed within the next hour or two.

When: Sunday, April 27th
Where: Capitol Flea Market
What: Pistachios and a Baseball Card Set
How Much?: $9

Purchase #1:  8oz. Bag of Tequila Pistachios $5

Not sure what the deal was... but there were a bunch of empty spaces at the flea market this morning.  And since there were only a fraction of vendors... that resulted in a lot less collectibles to attract my attention.

But thankfully... tequila flavored pistachios saved the day.  They were delicious and provided me with something to do while I walked around.  Sort of like popping sunflower seeds into your mouth while waiting in the dugout for your at bat.

Purchase #2:  1992 Topps Traded Baseball Card Set $4

There were two people with sports cards this morning.  One guy had a binder full of random cards I didn't want.  The other had a tub of cards... most of which I didn't want.  I did however find this traded set, which contains a Nomah rookie card, so I asked the gentleman how much he wanted.

He replied $15 to $20.  I didn't bother finding out the exact price, because we weren't even in the same ballpark.  On my second run through the flea market, I stopped by again.  This time he offered it to me for $7.  I told him I'd think about it as I popped a pistachio in my mouth.

On my way out, I remembered the set and went back to the guy.  I offered him $4 and he accepted.  Makes me wonder if he would have accepted that price the first time I talked to him.

Today's question of the day...

Which would you rather have?  Tequila flavored pistachios?  Or a 1992 Topps Traded set?

Happy Sunday and sayonara!

  2. Always take the cardboard, but I do love pistachios. I was addicted to the sweet chili variety for several months. Delicious!

  4. Since I'm not big on pistachios, I'd go with the cards. Especially at 4 bucks.

  5. Oh, a tough one. Need that Nomar rookie, so I'd crack that nut instead of the actual nut.

  6. I'll take the cards. Especially for $4

  7. Cards over nuts any day. Of course, cards are nuts so you have that.

  8. I gotta go with both, no way around it. You did good.

    1. Lol... they actually don't taste like tequila. They're pretty good... sort of sweet and salty at the same time.

  10. Can't the cards be made pistachio-flavored?

    1. Now that'd be dangerous. But if they did... I wouldn't have to go grocery shopping for the next few years.

  11. I'd take the cards. Not a big fan of pistachios or tequila.

  12. That 92 set is my only gap from 1986-1993, I think I would go with the cards despite the allure of tequila flavored nuts.

    Te-Qui-La!!
    TE - QUI - LA !!!

  14. Pistachios and tequila rule. Early '90s cards don't. Probably because I didn't have enough pistachios and tequila when I was opening them.

  15. That's an awesome set for $4. Great find.

No doubt about it, I need you with me the next time I buy a car...

  18. Totally with the set, especially since you could have bought two for the price of the pistachios.

  19. I have that set, so I'll have to go with pistachios

  20. Tequila flavored pistachios are too intriguing to pass up.

  21. I'd have to go with the cards by default. The taste of Tequila makes me sick

    1. They don't taste like tequila. Actually... just the smell of it makes me sick... but these pistachios are AMAZING! Although your fingers get a little sticky.

  22. Probably the '92 set because it's one of the few instances in any sport where my team actually won anything.

  23. Isn't the pistachio flavor the next Topps base set variation?

  24. I actually need that Nomah, so as interesting as the pistachios are I'd take the set!

  25. I prefer cashews, almost addictively!! So I'd go with the Traded set.

    1. Tough call. There are times, I have an insane craving for cashews. But there's not a better flea market nut, than pistachios.

  27. I don't drink.

So that narrows it down, I'd say.

  29. I love pistachios but plain for me. I'll take the cards. BTW whatever happened to pistachios that were colored red? That's all there were when I was growing up.

  30. Cards over Pistachios...they seem pricy to me, but then again, I don't buy them so what do I know...
