Sports Card Trifecta #21: Greg Maddux

By the time this post is published, Greg Maddux's name should have been announced as one of members of this year's National Baseball Hall of Fame.  I can't think of a better way to celebrate this special occasion than by showcasing my Sports Card Trifecta of The Professor himself...

Autographed Card:  2000 Revolution MLB Game Ball Signatures #2

It took awhile, but I finally picked up my first Maddux autograph back in 2012.  As of right now, I have three altogether... but this one is my favorite.  I like how Pacific had players sign on a swatch of real leather (sort of similar to UD Sweet Spot).  I'd like to eventually pick up an autograph of him in his Chicago Cubs uniform, but his autographs are still pretty pricey.

Memorabilia Card:  2002 Topps Gallery Heritage Uniform Relics #GHRGM

It's not multi-colored.  And it's not a patch.  But I'm a huge fan of card designs that utilize paintings and as of right now, this is one of my favorite Maddux memorabilia cards.

Rookie Card:  1987 Donruss #36

And rounding out the Sports Card Trifecta is this awesome photo of Maddux repping the cool 'stache on this black bordered beauty.  One of these days, I hope to add the Leaf counterpart to my collection, but right now isn't the best time to buy his cards.

Congratulations Mr. Maddux and to all of the other members of the Class of 2014!  Happy Wednesday and sayonara!

  1. Man, a Maddux auto, I'm jealous! And that's a pretty sweet one, too. That's a high-quality trifecta right there--you might even call it a hiqualtrifec.

  2. Very nice. I'm on the hunt for a Maddux auto too, but yeah, probably not the best time to buy!

  3. Well I was lucky enough to get Mr Maddux to sign a goudey card for me quite a few years ago. I'll have to post a pic of it. I also have a TTM Tom Glavine auto. Good guys!
