In Melvin, I Trust

1986 Donruss #456 RC

After Tuesday's heartbreaking loss to the Detroit Tigers... some Oakland Athletics fans and radio hosts questioned some of Bob Melvin's decisions.  Not this fan.  Win or lose, thou shalt not turn his back on the man who...

Led his players to back to back AL West titles.

Delivered Oakland A's fans a team with the 2nd best record in the American League with a roster earning the 4th lowest salary in baseball.

Is the reigning AL Manager of the Year and has to at least be considered for the award again this season.

The fact is... his players have bought into his system.  And so has this fan.  It's game time.

Go A's!

Happy Thursday and sayonara!

  1. Some people will complain about the serial number if you hand them a $100 bill. Bob Melvin and the A's should have no regrets this morning, they've done a fine job the past couple of years. If certain "fans" don't like it, maybe they should switch to a team with a big payroll... like the Angels. :-D

    1. Agree 100%. The A's definitely exceeded my expectations. Of course I wanted them to go further.. and actually believed they would. But you won't hear any complaints out of this A's fan's mouth.

  2. Let's give some major praise to Billy Beane and his staff as well.

    1. Most definitely. The reason I focused on Melvin was b/c fans/radio personalities were complaining about his decisions... not Beane's.

  3. When the season ends there is always that feeling that someone didn't do their best. But by what you've been telling it seems A's did a pretty good job! Next year might be the year...if not for my Yankees ;-)

    1. Yeah... can't complain about the A's and their outcome. They definitely overachieved this season. But anytime you're knocked out it's not a great feeling.

I just can't find it in me to wish the Yankees luck... so I'll say best of luck to you and we'll go from there.
