I truly miss the days of driving into work, greeting my students as they enter the classroom, and teaching the old school way.
Oh well... it's time to get back in front of the camera and hopefully impact the lives of my students in a positive manner as we begin to see a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a American History teacher. My favorite things are still history, and baseball, and how they're woven together in the growth of America.
ReplyDeleteOnline learning/teaching isn't the same thing as in-person schooling for any of us (students or teachers). The best we can do is try... I think our students know that!

ReplyDeleteI feel for you and especially for your students. The schools here and in Ocala, haven't been closed this school year (since August) at all. Considering there is only 2 public high schools here they are LARGE. 7 & 8A schools. Each of the football teams have 83-123 players. In person 5 days a week. I hope y'all get back in person soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's been almost a year. Let's hope we're at least half way through this. Maybe by the next school year things will be getting much closer to normal. Great Gwynn card.

ReplyDeleteI'm still in person, but with masks and all the necessary safety precautions. Rumor around our building today was that we're going to start the next school year the same way we started the current one. I hope the rumors are false. I can't wait to go back to normal.
john sharp - i really enjoyed teaching this eld history class a few years ago. if i had to do it all over again, i might go that route.

hackenbush - yeah... march 13th was my last day with kids in my classroom. it feels like way longer than a year. i feel like we'll be back in our rooms by august, but it won't be 100% back to normal

p-town tom - are half your students in class and half online w/ a staggered schedule? if so do you like it better than 100% online?
Loved the Gwynn card. We just returned to outdoor recess this week, after a week and a half of sub-zero temperatures. I think the teachers care counting down the days until spring break more than the students.
ReplyDeletecomatoad - lol. hope your school year is going well. starting to look like the elementary schools in our district could possibly head back to in person or some form of hybrid. waiting to hear more news though. not sure what their plans are for middle school (which has more moving parts b/c of each student having 6 teachers).
