Sufferin' Succotash

Confused.  Frustrated.  Discombobulated.  That's how I felt after the Russell Wilson decided to throw the ball instead of hand it off to Mr. Lynch.

Nineteen hours later, I'm feeling a little better... but I can't help but shake my head every time I think about that play.  So since today is kind of a SMH Monday... I figured I'd re-share some cards that have left me confused, frustrated, or discombobulated in the past:

Confusing!

It's been over two decades... and I'm still wondering why Score decided to use this photograph of Canseco.

Frustrating!

With Bruce Jenner back in the headlines this week, I figured it's perfect time to bring this card out of the vault.  I understand why companies have athletes sign stickers.  I even understand the lack of team logos on some cards.  But cards without a photograph?  That's completely ridiculous!

And according to Merriam-Webster... if you take "confused" and you combine it with "frustrated", you get "discombobulated"... which is how I feel every time I look see cards like this:

Discombobulating!

Take five seconds to stare at this card.  Finished?  This card is horrible on so many levels.  Since when does a white label attached to an index card constitute a "cut signature"?  Thankfully I have the perfect place in my collection for this atrocity:  my Damaged Card PC (see upper right corner).

I'll wrap this post up with two more cards that left me shaking my head:

Who thought it was a good idea to create cards of Panini employees?  And if you forgot... Topps did something similar a few years earlier:

Sadly, the more appropriate question is... why did I buy these cards?

How about you?

Are there any cards that leave you feeling confused, frustrated, or discombobulated?

By the way... congratulations New England Patriots and Katy Perry fans!  I'm glad some of you walked away from yesterday's Super Bowl without shaking your heads.

Happy Monday and sayonara!

    1. Wow. That Carlton is BAD. Really BAD. Thanks for sharing. I wonder what Steve's reaction was when he first saw that card. It's one thing that he's on the phone. It's another thing to make him look like a woman.

  2. 1995 Fleer. :-)

In all seriousness, I'm more likely to be discombobulated by the set's makeup than photos. There are always a few of those "why would they use that photo" type cards.

If I had to pick one card, though, this one would be up there: http://www.beckett.com/news/2010/02/kim-kardashian-meets-nascar/

    1. Fleer had a few rough designs in the 90's. That 1995 design was three decades too late. As for the car... I've considered following NASCAR. However... that car just set me back a few years. Although... I'd love to get my hands on one of the Kardashian Sweet Spot autographs.

    1. Lol... I really liked the half time show. Missy was looking good. Hadn't seen her in years.

  4. Every card I own has me feeling all three. I mean, at the end of the day, why did I spend money on something that's not going to be worth anything to me when I'm dead and gone.

    1. Excellent point. I try not to think of future value when I buy cards. I have enough stuff on my place already. But once again... you make an excellent point.

  5. I am sorry Fuji about the hawks-a bad way to end great season. Bright side? Pitchers and catchers report in two weeks. C-ya at the Flea Market.

    1. Devastated. It still makes me shake my head at least 5 to 10 times a day. Definitely looking forward to baseball and the flea market... although, I heard it might rain.

  6. Any set with SPs. Almost a guarantee that once I get down to a card or two left it will be Mike Trout and Derek Jeter.

    1. SP's are the main reason I've slowed down on set building. These days when I want something bad enough... I'll wait around and buy the set off of eBay.

  7. I still think the employee cards are cool.
