I've Got More Wood!
I finally have Gwynn's Big Stick in my hands. Wait that doesn't sound right. Let's try this again.
I finally have my hands wrapped around Tony Gwynn's piece of wood. Nope. That's not much better. Hmmm. How should I state this without sounding awkward?
I finally have in my possession the autographed Tony Gwynn bat I purchased at last month's TRISTAR show. Yeah... that's the ticket.
My buddy is an in-person autograph guru and was able to get Gwynn to sign this bat at a SJSU vs. SDSU game back in February. He sold it to me for $70. However... even though both of us know the autograph is legit... part of the $70 went towards getting it certified by PSA:
That's why I wasn't able to take it home with me earlier. My buddy picked it up from PSA's booth at the end of the last day of the show and held onto it for me the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, I don't really have any room to display it right now. Until I can figure something out... it'll have to sit in the corner of my office next to my Kurt Suzuki and Frank Thomas autographed bats.
By the way... thank you for all of the wonderful comments everyone has been leaving. It's been a lot of fun reading and responding to them. I'm a little behind... but I assure you I read each and every one of them. I'm hoping to catch up on a few things today, including reading your posts, responding to comments, and of course continue to sort and organize the collection.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Happy Sunday and sayonara!
This is awesome! Great addition to your collection.
ReplyDeleteNice pickup
ReplyDeleteYou're batman!
ReplyDeleteWho's next on your wish list for bats?
ReplyDeleteYou cant stop now.
Hmmm... I'd probably say Ken Griffey Jr. or Rickey Henderson. But realistically... it's not going to happen anytime in the near future.
Deletesweet bat.
ReplyDeleteVery cool
ReplyDeleteI'm making this one exception... normally I refrain from even talking about another man's wood!!
ReplyDeletenice pick-up Fuji!
Great Bat! Congrats on the awesome addition.
ReplyDeletei always wanted large memorabilia items just never sure how to store it/organize it/show it off
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat. I keep telling myself that I'll own a big house with a mancave one of these days.
DeleteI've never had any autographs on bats. I like that one -- nice addition!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is one hell of a log! Please cue the Ren and Stimpy jokes too!
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteDon't let that wood out of your sight!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Gwynn has a great signature.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI dare you get out there and play with that thing.
ReplyDeleteDoes sitting in my office and taking slow motion swings count?
DeleteThanks guys! As soon as I figure out a way to display it, I'll share it with all of you.
ReplyDeletegreat pick up! did you have to negotiate down to the $70?
ReplyDeleteNot really. The only thing that was sort of negotiated was the PSA Cert. I told him if I was going to spend that kind of money, he'd have to get it certified by them (who happened to be at the show).
