When: Saturday, July 3rd
Where: De Anza Flea Market
What: UD Greats of the Game autographs (x3)
How Much: $12
Well today, I met a really nice guy who was selling some of his extras. He had a bunch of newer singles and a couple of older cards from the 70's. After hanging out with him for 10 minutes or so, I kind of felt obligated to pick something up. So I asked him about these:
He wanted $5 each for the Armstrong & the Cooper and $8 for the Dantley. Or he would sell the trio for $15. I asked him if he'd take $12 and after a short pause he accepted. It's not the steal of the century, but I figured he was able to make a sale and I was able to pick up three autographs I wanted for my PC.
B.J. Armstrong
When I think of B.J. Armstrong, I think of the baby faced point guard playing alongside of Michael Jordan. B.J. won three NBA championships with the Bulls. He even made the all-star team during the 93/94 season and is 7th all-time in 3 point percentage. He'll never make the NBA Hall of Fame, but he played a key role in the success of the Bulls during the 90's.
Michael Cooper
Coop was a defensive gem for the Los Angeles Lakers during their 80's dynasty and is one of my favorite players. Sporting knee high socks, he won the Defensive Player of the Year award during the 86/87 season. He also made the NBA First Team All-Defensive team five times and the Second Team three times. Like Armstrong, Coop was a key role player for the Lakers, where he won 5 NBA Championships with Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Byron Scott, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Adrian Dantley
Dantley was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2008. He won Rookie of the Year honors for the 1976/77 season. During his 15 year career, he scored 23,177 points (25th all-time) and made the all-star team 6 times. In 2007, the Utah Jazz retired his jersey number (#4).

4 bucks a piece is a good deal. You should feel good about that purchase. Especially if they're going to your PC.
ReplyDeleteI figured it was a fair deal... I knew I wasn't getting ripped off, but it's not the greatest deal in the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree though... I'm excited to add these three to my PC... so it was definitely worth the $12 (IMO).
Nice work Mark. Anytime you can grab auto'd cards for $4 buck each, its a good deal. I was going to post a B.J. Armstrong card today. I'll wait until later in the week.
ReplyDeleteCool cards.
hoopography - wow, i actually beat you to the punch? that's a first! have a safe 4th of July... look forward to reading about your Armstrong auto.
