All cards are not created equal and this stunning card of Mark Ellis proves it:
2003 Topps Chrome Refractor #237
There's just so much to like about this card. The 2003 Topps blue borders match perfectly with the US flag in the background. The fact that this is a refractor with etching makes this card shine extra bright. It might be hard to tell, but it has a three dimensional effect built in where Ellis is popping off the card. And the Topps Rookie Cup is the icing on the cake.
This card has been sitting in the box below waiting for America's birthday to arrive.
Thank you Xavier! And happy birthday America! You might not be perfect, but there's so much to like!
Well that's it for today. I hope all of you enjoy a safe and happy 4th of July!
Happy Monday and sayonara!
Happy 4th!

ReplyDeleteVery cool card, Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous Mark Ellis! It's also my sons' birthday. Looking forward to future posts from this box of goodies.
ReplyDeleteI wish etching on refractors would come back! Made them feel higher quality and like you said, 3D.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great 4th!
thanks for taking the time to comment. my 4th was fantastic. ate two 49er hot dogs, some corn, wings, and pie... while hanging out with extended family.
ReplyDeletethe lost collector - i agree. etching is a must on refractors. that's just one more reason old refractors are way cooler than the current ones.
Not an A's fan, but that one is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI remember buying a box of this and pulling all the hot rookies at the time. Camo, Han-Ram, Felix Pie etc... Chrome cards were seeded in each pack and I absolutely loved them! I still have them stashed... somewhere lol.
